Why Post Frame?

Why Choose Post-Frame Construction?

Post-frame framing gets you a permit-ready building faster and for less, without sacrificing structural performance.

Affordable Construction

Uses fewer materials while maintaining structural strength, so your building costs less to frame and permit.

Large Clear Spans

Perfect for workshops, garages, agricultural buildings, and storage — open floor plans with no interior columns.

Faster Build Time

Efficient post-frame framing allows quicker construction from foundation to dried-in shell.

Flexible Design

Customize doors, windows, overhangs, lean-tos, and layouts to fit exactly how you’ll use the building.

FAQ

Common Questions

What is a post-frame building?

A post-frame building (also called a pole barn) uses widely spaced wood posts embedded in the ground or set on piers to carry the structural load, instead of a continuous stud wall on a foundation. It's a fast, cost-effective framing method used for barns, garages, workshops, and agricultural and commercial buildings.

How much do post-frame plans cost?

Post-frame structural plans start at $2,000 flat rate for buildings up to 2,000 sq ft with up to 4 roof planes. Larger footprints, additional roof planes, and commercial configurations are quoted individually.

How long does it take?

Post-frame is our fastest-moving service. Turnaround depends on jurisdiction and engineer workload, but you'll receive a firm timeline with your quote.

Can I use my own dimensions?

Yes. Send your building's square footage, roof pitch, and layout and we'll build the structural plan set around your exact dimensions.

Do your plans include engineer stamps?

Yes. Every plan set is reviewed and sealed by a licensed PE in the jurisdiction where your building will be permitted.

Are these accepted nationwide?

Yes. We route every project to a licensed PE registered in your state, so your plans are accepted by building departments nationwide.

Can I modify my plans later?

Yes. If your project scope changes after your plans are delivered, we can coordinate a revision with your assigned engineer.

Can I use SmartBuild files?

Yes. SmartBuild is our own design platform, so we accept SmartBuild project files directly, which speeds up quoting and plan production.
